How Much Do Facebook Ads Cost for Local Businesses?

Realistic budgets, cost-per-lead ranges from our own client accounts, and the minimum spend that actually produces results.

Headline finding: local service businesses should plan on $25–$60 per lead on Meta, and a floor of $3,000/month in spend before results become readable.

Headline finding: a healthy Meta account for local services runs 4x–8x ROAS; our own 162-campaign account averaged 17.36x at peak, which is an outlier, not a benchmark to promise you.

Methodology

Where These Numbers Come From

The data set

Every benchmark on this site comes from ad accounts we personally manage — not from a third-party report or an industry survey. The base is $10M+ in Meta ad spend placed since 2011 across roughly 500 campaigns in more than 50 industries, weighted heavily toward US local service businesses: cleaning, fitness, construction, restaurants and home services.

Where a figure comes from a single account rather than the whole set — the 13.5x local-services result, the 17.36x apparel peak — we say which account and show the Ads Manager screenshot rather than asking you to take our word for it.

How we report it, and what we won't do

Return on ad spend is calculated as tracked purchase or lead value divided by Meta ad spend for the same window, using the platform's reported attribution. It excludes our management fee, which we state plainly because plenty of agencies quietly bury it.

We don't publish averages that hide a single outlier, we don't recycle other agencies' benchmark posts, and we don't quote a result we can't produce a screenshot for. Where a number is an estimate rather than a measurement — the budget calculator on the home page, for instance — it is labelled as one.

Client names are withheld unless the client has agreed to be named. That is why several case studies are described by sector rather than brand.
